Karen started her singing career as Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, in junior high. After singing for those munchkins, and then many years of "sing around the campfire" (yes, she joined the Peace Corps), she sang to her own munchkins when they were little. Soon thereafter she began singing pop/rock with local band "Unknown Legend," then formed a "just for Halloween" rock band called "Shovelhead," then moved on to blues. Her blues/rock band, "Rain City Blues," performed around the Seattle area for several years in the late 90's. Then she moved on to jazz, and joined Back Burner in 2002. She loves the mix of musical genres the band explores: jazz, bluegrass, folk, country, and beyond.
Karen lives in Kirkland. When she isn't singing, she is raising two teenage boys, working as a technical writer, volunteering around her neighborhood, studying Spanish, traveling, and gardening.
